The typical stay is based on where you are coming from and the need to complete the day-one wash before heading home. South Florida patients may be able to come and go the same day. Southwest Florida and Keys patients commonly plan 1 night. Central and North Florida patients often plan 1–2 nights. Patients from other states and Puerto Rico commonly plan 2–3 nights. Your written plan and video consultation help confirm how the procedure day and first wash should fit together.

Short domestic flights are usually fine after the first wash. Keep your aftercare kit and medications in your carry-on.

The third night is a buffer, not a medical requirement. It helps when a connection runs late, when you prefer not to fly on the afternoon of the first wash, or when a companion is traveling with you.

Follow-up schedule after you return home

After the procedure trip, follow-ups are scheduled at months 3, 6 and 9 by video. The month 12 follow-up can be in person or by video. New growth is expected around months 3–4, and the final result is assessed around month 12. These follow-ups are included in the all-inclusive package, along with surgery, anesthesia, medications and PRP, while travel costs are separate from the package.

Out-of-town patients should plan the trip around the procedure and the day-one wash, because the wash shows you exactly how to care for the graft area. Headrests, hats and overhead bins

• Use a U-shaped neck pillow and keep your head upright so the recipient area does not rest against the seat back.
• A loose, clean cap is usually acceptable; avoid tight hats, headbands and hoods that press on the grafts.
• Security screening may ask you to remove a hat or offer extra screening; you can ask for a private screening if you prefer.
• Ask the flight attendant or a companion to lift heavy bags into the overhead bin, and watch the bin edge as you sit down.
• Drink water and walk the aisle on longer flights.

Mild swelling of the forehead is common in the first few days and is not a reason to cancel a short flight. A short domestic flight after the first wash is usually fine; if your itinerary includes a long layover or more than one connection, check it with the surgeon during your consultation.
