Turkish hair transplant expertise, a 1 hour 15 min flight from Jacksonville
Jacksonville and St. Augustine patients usually plan two nights in South Florida. North Florida has fewer dedicated hair restoration clinics, and many patients had been weighing a trip to Istanbul before finding Turkish expertise in their own state.
Our surgeons trained in Turkey — the country that performs more hair transplants than anywhere in the world — and every surgeon who operates at our Tamarac clinic holds a Florida medical license. You get the Turkish approach to planning and precision, and you stay close to Jacksonville for recovery and follow-up.

Jacksonville to South Florida: shaping a two-night stay
Jacksonville is about 317 miles from Tamarac, and most patients come south one of two ways: a short nonstop flight from Jacksonville International (JAX) to Fort Lauderdale, about 1 hour 15 minutes, or a straight run down I-95 of about 5–5.5 hours. From St. Augustine the drive is a little shorter, and from any part of Duval County the flight is the quicker trip.
Jacksonville and St. Augustine patients usually plan two nights in South Florida. Arriving the day before takes the pressure off procedure morning; the night after surgery keeps you close for the first wash; and you head home once it's done. If you drove down, the drive back up I-95 needs a different driver. Five hours is a long day in a car so soon after surgery, and post-op medication can make you drowsy.
On the flight home, a travel neck pillow keeps you upright and the back of your head off the seat. Wear something that buttons or zips, ask for help with the overhead bin, and keep your aftercare instructions in your carry-on. Forehead swelling often appears in the first few days after surgery; it's usually temporary, but it's one reason most people like to be home before it peaks.
North Florida's climate gives you a little more room than the south: winters are cooler and less humid, which makes the first weeks easier for anyone who works outdoors. Summer is another matter, and the beaches and the St. Johns River draw people into sun and water most of the year. Keep the grafts out of the ocean, the river and pools for about two weeks, then go back with a loose hat. If your job requires a helmet or a fitted cap, ask the surgeon when it's safe to wear it again; the answer depends on where the grafts are.
Follow-ups are set up so one trip is usually enough. The month 3, 6 and 9 check-ins happen by video from Riverside, San Marco, Ponte Vedra or wherever you are; at month 12 you can make the trip for an in-person review or stay on video. In between, WhatsApp support and our guide on shock loss after a hair transplant answer the question most patients ask around the second month: whether shedding is normal.
| Step | What happens | Planning from Jacksonville |
|---|---|---|
| Photo analysis & written plan | You send four photos (front, top, crown, sides) and a surgeon replies with a written plan and all-inclusive quote within 24 hours. | Send photos from San Marco, Orange Park or St. Augustine; you'll have the plan and quote before booking a flight from JAX. |
| Consultation | The surgeon walks through your hairline, graft plan and medical history by video or in person. | Video saves a 317-mile trip; come in person only if you want to meet the surgeon before procedure day. |
| Procedure day | Sapphire FUE under local anesthesia at the Tamarac clinic, typically most of the day. | Fly or drive I-95 the day before, as most Jacksonville patients do, then sleep near the clinic and start rested. |
| Next-day first wash & check | The first wash, a graft and donor check, and instructions for the days ahead. | After the wash, fly back to JAX or ride home as a passenger; don't take on five hours of I-95 as the driver. |
| Follow-ups (months 3, 6, 9, 12) | Milestone reviews against your baseline photos, with WhatsApp support in between. | Video from Jacksonville at months 3, 6 and 9; in person at month 12 if you're heading south anyway. |

Recovering at home in Jacksonville
After your hair transplant, you'll recover at home in Jacksonville rather than in a hotel abroad. For the first five nights, sleep with your head elevated; wash gently exactly as shown at your day-one visit; and avoid direct sun, swimming pools, the ocean and heavy exercise for about two weeks. Plan outdoor time in Jacksonville for cooler hours and keep a loose hat handy from day three.
Your aftercare team is available on WhatsApp seven days a week — send a photo whenever you have a question. New growth usually appears around month three or four, visible change arrives by month six and the final result matures around month twelve. Most Jacksonville patients never need a second trip: check-ins at months three, six and nine happen by video.
Hair restoration options in North Florida
Patients in Jacksonville often compare three options: a local clinic, a medical-tourism package in Istanbul, or a Turkish-trained surgeon in South Florida. The right choice depends on the surgeon, not the location — so ask about training, licensure and who performs your procedure.
HAIROCKET combines the techniques Turkey is known for — Sapphire FUE, stem cell hair transplants and unshaven FUE — with Florida licensure and in-person access. Read more in our Florida hair transplant guide and Turkey vs USA comparison.

How far is HAIROCKET from Jacksonville?
Our clinic is in Tamarac, near Fort Lauderdale, about 317 miles from Jacksonville — roughly 5–5.5 hours by car or 1 hour 15 min by air.
Do Jacksonville patients need to stay overnight?
Most Jacksonville patients plan one or two nights in South Florida: surgery, first wash, then a short flight home.
Can I have my follow-ups in Jacksonville?
Yes. Check-ins at months 3, 6 and 9 can happen by secure video from Jacksonville; an in-person review at month 12 is optional.
Is there a Turkish hair transplant clinic near Jacksonville?
HAIROCKET is a Turkish-trained, Florida-licensed practice in Tamarac, near Fort Lauderdale, serving Jacksonville and the rest of North Florida.
How much does a hair transplant cost for Jacksonville patients?
The same as for every patient: fixed-price packages — Essential $5,500, Signature $5,750 or Elite $8,000 — with a written plan after your free analysis. Travel costs are separate.
Can I get a quote before travelling?
Yes — send four photos from Jacksonville and a surgeon will reply with a graft estimate and quote within 24 hours.
Can I drive myself home up I-95 after the first wash?
We recommend against it. The drive is about 5–5.5 hours, you're one day out from surgery, and post-op medication can make you drowsy. If you came by car, let someone else drive home, stop every couple of hours and keep your head upright with a neck pillow. If you're traveling alone, the short flight from Fort Lauderdale to JAX is the simpler choice.
My job requires a helmet or a fitted cap. When can I wear it again?
It depends on where the grafts are and how you heal. A loose, clean hat is usually fine from day three, but helmets and fitted caps press and rub on grafts and typically wait longer, often a few weeks. Your surgeon will give you guidance at the first wash, and you can confirm by WhatsApp photo before going back to work.
